Dad

When a little girl my eyes lit up when you came through the door.

Daddy’s home!

I would run and jump into your arms excited and giddy.

As I grew older you became my teacher, my coach, my greatest supporter.

I heard your voice at the same spot during every track race,

You lifted me up after bad nights when I was frustrated playing basketball,

And you came to every dance recital even when I knew it wasn’t your preferred place to be.

As I transitioned into adulthood I made a lot of mistakes, had many missteps, and came home to live more than a couple of times.

You never said anything…just welcomed me with open arms.

You helped me out financially, fixed things on my house, and made time for your granddaughter, building a special relationship with her.

Dad-

We don’t always see eye-to-eye on things, but I recognize your value in my life and that I am, in fact, the luckiest girl on the planet to have you as my father.

Your unconditional love has made me who I am today.

It has made me strong, independent, vocal, brave, and compassionate.

My faith in you has never wavered.

You always come through, even when I feel I don’t deserve it.

Ashley and I love you very much.

Happy Father’s Day!
