Saturdays

Sweat, teamwork, hand slaps, exhaustion.

Workout is done.

It’s Saturday!

Celebrating our feats of strength, we head to our favorite breakfast place.

Over steaming cups of coffee and sizzling greasy grub, we banter about the workout, our week, our struggles.

“A” observes something funny and we giggle. She embellishes, reveling in the hilarity of the moment.

Pretty soon we are keeled over in laughter, tears springing to our eyes, damp with therapeutic release.

This. This moment.

This is pure joy and happiness.

At this moment nothing else matters…

Relationship troubles don’t matter.

Stress at work doesn’t matter.

Hectic child-rearing doesn’t matter.

We are wholly in the moment.

For this reason, Saturdays are my favorite day of the week.

Rejuvenation, stress relief, friendship, calm, serenity, trust, loyalty, love.

It’s all right here in my Saturday.

The rest of the day is mine for the taking.

Writing, reflecting, re-centering, reminding myself that life doesn’t have to be the mind-numbing grind we make it.

It is up to US to make our lives extraordinary.
