Stand In the Light

Why are people afraid of confrontation?

If you hold any principles at all, you are going to piss off some people.

Your views threaten their way of life, you see.

You confront their fears and their illusions.

You make their bubbles disappear until they are vulnerable and naked.

You see, if you don’t speak up, you trivialize oppression, you make it okay.

We all see injustices every day…through one lens or another.

But many of us live in denial because confronting those harsh realities could threaten our own existence.

But guess what? You can’t lose what you don’t have.

Nothing is actually yours except your dignity, your principles, your integrity.

You take nothing else with you when you leave this earth.

Standing around watching bias and injustice, turning a blind eye to corruption and infidelity…

Well, those are societal offenses too. Silence is complicity. You will NOT be acquitted at the final gate.

So, be loud. Speak your truth. Know your battles. Spend the time educating yourself so that you can stand in the light of your confidence and not the shadow of your ignorant shame. Be a leader. Confront. Call out. Speak truth to power. Piss some people off, and walk away with your head held high.

You are a warrior…a warrior of light, fighting for those who can’t fight for themselves. Use your voice. Warriors of the light train with their brains, books, paper, and pen. Warriors debate and challenge and read and think critically. Be a soldier of knowledge, not a soldier of fear and violence. Stand in the light and fear not…for knowledge IS the light and the light always wins.
