One Day With You

We sit across from each other, outside in the warm, blazing sun.

Beautiful brown waffles and cheesy layered omelets sit in front of us.

The conversation is always good, chatting about everything random and fun.

I’m engaged with him, interested in what he has to say…still curious.

Friendships are funny, they happen unexpectedly.

There is a common thread, a few meals, laughter, a bond.

These are sacred moments, rarities I don’t take lightly.

A true and pure love of which I am so fond.

No pretentiousness, no expectations.

No weird or forced oddities, just a shared ease and enjoyment for the sake of it.

Joy and kinship, a way to pass the time.

Smiles and conversation with each other; no faking it.

Then something changes, something is said to make me wonder.

What could come of us if more than friendship was discovered?

Do we risk this contentment for something more? I definitely ponder.

The fear for me could be a love from which I might never recover.

We search each other’s hearts through a once timid, now sparked and alive encounter.

We feel all the power that our bodies joined can suggest.

There are still no answers, just more questions and reasons to flounder.

I only know that I want more of him, not less.

In the end relationships are always what they are meant to be.

A test of a true connection is in the longevity.

We are meant to love for love’s sake without the expectations.

Those who want to be with us, will find us without an invitation.

The lesson for me is to always let go, knowing that what will be will be.

So I give all of what I have in the moment and say what I need to say.

I have had a few loves, all important in their own way; they all help me to see

That one day can last an eternity and an eternity can be found in just one day.
